Customizable dispensing unit "Auto Pipette" that contributes to the miniaturization of equipment
It is a highly accurate, compact, lightweight, and thin auto pipette with a mechanism that uses the same Φ8 mm microactuator as the world's smallest and lightest pen-type electric pipette "pipetty".
In the mass production, it can be achieved a low price, high accuracy, and flexible customization to meet a customer needs such as mounting shape, dispensing type, and material, which contributes to the miniaturization of the equipment. In addition, the biggest feature is that by connecting this unit in parallel, it can make 8-unit independent control for 96-well plate with a 9mm pitch.
By thinning the unit structure, it achieved a short width of 8mm for a 300 µL dispensing size auto pipette. By connecting 8 units in parallel, 9mm pitch dispensing suitable for 96-well plates used in medical sites and research institutes such as PCR tests and blood analysis. In addition, since each unit can be controlled individually, it is possible to independently control the 8-unit pipette with high-precision and high-efficiency dispensing.
The market price of competing products is generally about 150,000 JPY, but our auto pipette is about half the selling price. Both of high precision and low price has achieved by removing excessive functions and custom designing and manufacturing other than basic functions according to customer needs.
We support a wide variety of customizations to meet the needs of customers, such as the shape of the mounting device, the shape of the nozzle of the droplet ejection part, and the material of the unit. In addition, a pressure sensor can be installed to add a liquid level detection function, a tip attach detection function, and a tip eject function.

To meet the customer's request to install autopipette on a small, low-profile device, we have manufactured a unit in which the main body is changed to a horizontally long shape by customizing the position and orientation of the nozzle. By customizing the shape of the unit, the auto pipette can support various device layouts with keep high-precision dispensing capacity. In addition to customizing the shape, it can also be equipped with a liquid level detection and tip eject function.
In order to handle highly erosive liquids such as strong acids and strong alkalis, we have added high corrosion resistance by replacing parts that may come into contact with the liquid with ceramic materials. It is possible to replace the components of the autopipette with various materials (SUS, ceramics, quartz, etc.) according to the characteristics of the chemicals and liquids used and the intended use.
In order to support use in CPC (Cell Processing Center), which cultures and processes therapeutic cells in regenerative medicine, a special cover that seals the autopipette body is attached to provide resistance to gas sterilization. It is possible to manufacture and install additional parts with shapes and materials suitable for the sterilization process requested by the customer.

In the conventional method of extracting nucleic acids such as DNA and RNA, not only a lot of workloads are required due to complicated operations and multiple centrifugations, but also the proficiency level of the operator greatly affects the test result. The newly developed kit is not only significantly reduces the workloads, By realizing a new nucleic acid extraction method that utilizes a high-precision pen-type electronic pipette and a special column, which makes it possible to reduce the workload from 30 minutes to about 15 minutes and improve the accuracy of experiments.
This is a newly developed kit that enables nucleic acid extraction using only original column chip without using a centrifuge or stirrer. We have realized a completely new nucleic acid extraction method that simplifies the conventional complicated operation procedure and not only shortens the time but also improves the inspection accuracy.
In the conventional nucleic acid extraction method widely practiced in the field of research and examination, it generally takes about 30 minutes for all of operations from pretreatment to extraction, which is large issue on work efficiency and workload. pipetty's "nucleic acid extraction mode" is based on the realization of a completely new method which is jointly developed by Icomes Lab. It shortens the operation time about 15 minutes, which is half of the conventional operation, and supports the smooth work of operators and researchers.
The newly developed kit, which includes an electronic pipette and column tip, eliminates the operations of centrifugation and stirring, which were essential in conventional nucleic acid extraction methods, and eliminates the need for equipment such as centrifuges and vortexes. As a result, the waiting time required multiple times at short intervals can be shortened, duplicate reservations for the device can be also eliminated, and the device can be implemented in an environment where it is difficult to use, freeing many restrictions in inspections and experiments and eventually achieves improved experimental efficiency.
Nucleic acid extraction work will be simplified and speeded up by combining a special chip equipped with a monolith column capable of high-speed and high-precision separation even at low pressure and a high-precision electronic pipette capable of gentle aspiration and dispensing at a constant speed. Not only that, it also makes it possible to improve inspection sensitivity. This is a newly developed nucleic acid extraction kit that enables stable and highly reliable tests by fusing these two technologies.
In addition to laboratory-scale experiments using electronic pipettes, the installation of our "Auto Pipette" makes it possible to further speed up and automate nucleic acid extraction. The dispensing unit "Auto Pipette", which has achieved high accuracy, small size, light weight, and thinness by the same operation mechanism as pipetty, has a high customizability that enables independent control of 9mm pitch compatible with 96-well plates by connecting and mounting. We will contribute to the realization of next-generation of nucleic acid extractors by combining with various nucleic acid extraction methods.

Supporting our product development is a plastic gear co-developed with Iwate University and a unique Micro Actuator that incorporates a structural patent technology called the "mysterious gear system." We are developing future valuable products and technologies with this core technology that has achieved miniaturization, weight reduction, high accuracy, and low price.
We are developing and manufacturing a "liquid handling device" by applying the technology of our original Micro Actuator, which is used in various mechanisms such as surveying instruments and autofocus of single-lens reflex cameras. By sales expanding pen-type electronic pipettes and dispensers that enable high-precision dispensing of micro volume of high-viscosity liquids, we contribute to improving precision and productivity in research and development.。
Our liquid handling technology and products that have high-precision dispensing are used not only in the industrial field but also in the medical field such as regenerative medicine recently. We are also focusing on the development of medical-related devices that utilize our core technologies, such as working on research into iPS cell (artificial pluripotent stem cell) transplantation devices in collaboration with RIKEN.
In addition to selling the final products of micro-actuators and liquid control devices using that technology, we are actively working on custom development to meet the needs of our customers. We also utilize our own strengths in micromechanical technology to develop products jointly with our customers and supply an OEM products.
We awarded the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award in the "8th Japan Manufacturing Grand Award" on the development of the pen-type electronic pipette. We will continue to work hard to develop new technologies and products to provide high value that brand new to the world.
